The Boss Tag Standard

A Boss Tag record is a permanent, publicly verifiable account of a physical item: what it is, its condition as evidenced, its standing, and who confirmed that standing. Each record is issued once and reachable at a public verify URL that requires no account to read.

Records are anchored on the Polygon blockchain; a record whose anchor is pending says so on its face. Once anchored, any alteration to what the record claimed is detectable against the anchor — by anyone, on public infrastructure Boss Tag does not control.

This page is the platform’s formal statement of what its records may claim, which authorities stand behind those claims today, and what every standing label means. It is the single source of truth for those definitions; where any other page appears to say more, this page governs.

Boss Tag uses a fixed vocabulary of standings. Each label claims exactly what its evidence supports, and nothing more.

Owner-declared · AI-assessed

The base standing of every record. The owner attests ownership, date, and condition; Boss Vision has examined the submitted evidence and recorded its assessment. This standing makes no authenticity claim.

Independently authenticated · [authority]

The record carries a real ruling, on the item itself, from a recognized independent authority, confirmed in-platform and attributed by name. This standing cannot be reached by owner declaration, by Boss Vision, or by any other path — by design.

Independently authenticated (bare form)

The same standing rendered without its source line. A real record carries it only when backed by a confirmed independent ruling whose source is recorded; wherever the source resolves, the attributed form is shown. Illustrative marketing compositions may depict this bare form; only real records attribute real authorities.

GIA report verified

A GIA grading report associated with the item has been confirmed with GIA. This label attests the report, not the stone, and is deliberately distinct from “authenticated”.

Verified and Certified

Planned expert-attested tiers adding, respectively, a named human reviewer and a credentialed appraisal. Neither is available today, and no record currently carries either label. Neither is required to hold a record or to list an item for sale.

The following authorities’ rulings are confirmed in-platform today. Each confirmation is made directly with the authority, through channels the authority provides for that purpose, and is surfaced on the record as that authority’s ruling — attributed by name.

PSA

Graded trading cards, and autographs certified under PSA/DNA. Standing conferred: Independently authenticated · PSA.

PCGS

Graded coins and banknotes. Standing conferred: Independently authenticated · PCGS.

GIA

Diamond and gemstone grading reports. Standing conferred: GIA report verified (the report, not the stone).

This list is complete. Certificates from other grading houses may be entered on a record as owner-submitted documentation — photographed, described, and preserved — but they do not confer an in-platform confirmed standing, and the record says so plainly. As further authorities are confirmed, this page is updated first — dated, never retroactively.

Boss Vision is Boss Tag’s assessment system. It identifies what an item is, reads its details from the owner’s photographs, assesses condition, and records its evidence and caveats in plain language on the record.

It does not authenticate, and no output of Boss Vision — however confident — can move a record to an authenticated standing. Authentication is reserved, on every Boss Tag surface, for a ruling by a recognized independent authority. Where Boss Vision cannot assess an item with confidence, the item is held rather than waved through.

When a record is anchored, its commitment is written to the BossTagAnchor registry on Polygon and is independently checkable by anyone, on public infrastructure Boss Tag does not control. The anchor fixes the record’s content and its date: what the record said, and when it said it, are provable without reference to Boss Tag, and any later alteration is detectable against the anchor.

A record whose anchor is pending says exactly that on its verify page. Personal information is never written on-chain; the anchor is a reference, and the detailed asset data remains in Boss Tag’s database under the owner’s control.

Counterparties with a professional need — insurers, marketplaces, estates, and institutions — may request the platform’s full standing documentation: the current confirmed-authority list with effective dates, the precise definition and history of each standing label, and the anchor-verification procedure. Requests are handled in writing through the support address published in the site footer.

Individual records require no request at all: every record is public at its verify URL, and its standing is stated on its face.
