When an asset is fractionalized on Boss Tag, the legal ownership must be transferred from the individual to the Series LLC entity that wraps the token. This ensures that token holders have enforceable claims on the asset. The transfer process varies by sector because different asset types have different legal ownership frameworks — a car has a DMV title, a property has a deed, a patent has a USPTO registration.
Vehicles
Transfer the vehicle title from your name to the Series LLC at your state DMV. This requires completing a title transfer form, paying the transfer fee (typically $15-75 depending on state), and providing the LLC's articles of organization. Some states allow online title transfers. The new title will show the LLC as the registered owner. Real Estate
Transfer the property deed to the Series LLC by recording a new deed (typically a quitclaim or warranty deed) with the county recorder's office. For properties with mortgages, check your loan's due-on-sale clause — some lenders may require notification or consent for transfers to LLCs.
